The new Chair of the Quinte Economic Development Commission is looking at 2019 as a year to zero in on the low number of people participating in the workforce.
Quinte West businessman Brad Little was elected to the post at the Commission’s first meeting in 2019 on Tuesday.
Little told Quinte News the Commission will be revising the target market study which concentrates on manufacturing, and technology, aerospace and aeronautical aspects.
He said, “Certainly there are some good members of our committee who are going to give us new ideas to work on. As we move forward new members will also have input.”
Outgoing chair Ross Rae noted the Commission has been in business for 13 years. He commended the work it does and said, “Businesses are all in a better place because of this.”
The Commission set a 2019 budget near the $800,000 mark, with a per capita payment for the three participating municipalities of Belleville, Quinte West, and Brighton of $4.00, up from $3.95 last year.
