A local fire chief has received an honour for his assistance with First Nations communities in Saskatchewan.
Marmora and Lake Chief Tony Brownson recently received a plaque for his efforts to provide firefighting equipment to rural Indigenous communities.
The goal is to assist newly formed volunteer departments, specifically First Nation departments, with training, consultation, and equipment.
So far, Brownson and other departments, have allocated 45 sets of bunker gear, hoses, extraction tools, breathing apparatuses and more.
It has taken up a truck and an entire shipping container.
Ten departments have received equipment so far.
If you are interested in donating used gear to this cause, please contact Fire Chief Tony Brownson at t.brownson@marmoraandlake.ca or call the department at 613-472-2748.
