The unemployment rate locally has increased as it has nationally and provincially.
In the Kingston Pembroke economic region, which includes the Quinte area, the unemployment rate in January stood at 5.5%, up from 5.2% in December.
In January of 2018, the rate was just 4.4%.
The national unemployment rate was 5.8% while Ontario’s was 5.7%.
