ADVISORY ISSUED FOR THE QUINTE REGION AT 10:10 P.M. BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA WEDNESDAY
Periods of freezing drizzle are expected to affect the region tonight into Thursday. There is the potential for a brief period of freezing rain Thursday evening before temperatures rise above zero and the precipitation changes to rain or drizzle.
Challenging winter travelling conditions are expected tonight through Thursday due to the prolonged period of icing.
In the wake of this weather system, strong westerly winds with gusts in the 70 to 90 km/h range may be possible Thursday night into Friday.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when drizzle falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create icy surfaces.
