Quinte West OPP have released their annual report which features statistics on crime and other aspects involved in policing the
community.
In 2018 there was one murder charge laid. There were none in 2017.
The number of sex assaults in Quinte West increased to 54 last year from 40 the year before.
There were fewer regular assaults at 180 incidents. There were 200 in 2017.
Incidents of break and enter, and theft under $5,000 and thefts over $5000 were also up.
Break and enters went to 92 in 2018 from 74 the year before.
Theft over $5,000 incidents numbered 50 last year, up from 40 in 2017.
In 2018 there were 427 incidents of theft under $5,000 compared to 406 the year before.
Meanwhile, there were considerably more Highway Traffic Act charges laid in Quinte West last year, totalling
3,401. There were 3,116 such charges in 2017.
Other categories showed insignificant change either way.
