The Belleville Rotary Club held their weekly meeting, but they were very open to the guest list Monday.
They welcomed numerous service clubs from around the region, an annual tradition.
Rotarians also hosted officials with the City of Belleville, the Belleville Senators, and the president of the Ottawa Senators Foundation.
Danielle Robinson is the president of the foundation, and her talk centred around the creation of an outdoor rink in Belleville.
To celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2012, the Senators Foundation mission was to create 20 outdoor rinks for kids and teens. They are about to surpass 15, and they have set their sights on Belleville.
Each arena costs between $200,000 to $250,000, and is constructed on municipal-owned land. The service clubs in the area have also stepped up to assist.
Robinson says each community wants a slightly different outdoor complex.
Director of Parks and Recreation Mark Fluhrer says the next thing is to complete the feasibility study for the complex.
Fluhrer adds they are looking at several pieces of city-owned land on which the rink could be constructed.
The facility can be used year around, and can include basketball nets, can be used for ball hockey or lacrosse, figure skating, public skating, hockey, and much more.
