VIA Rail passengers stuck for about 6 hours just east of Brighton after a CN track worker was injured this (Saturday)
morning got rolling again late this afternoon.
Around 10:30 the Brighton Fire Department, paramedics, and OPP responded after a man working for CN along the tracks west of Brighton suffered minor injuries as he sat in a vehicle near the tracks after VIA train heading east zipped by.
Reports indicate an object flew from the train and struck the worker.
A diesel fuel tank on one of two engines was discovered to have been punctured and the train finally came to a stop at the Lawson Road crossing.
The affected engine was in the middle of the train and an investigation involving various authorities, including CN and the Ministry of Environment, ensued.
All passengers were moved to the cars in front of the middle engine and the train resumed its trip east around 4:30.
Officials remain on scene investigating.
