It seemed like a vicious, blinding blizzard would never end yesterday and most of the night in southern Prince Edward County.
The OPP closed County Road 33 and roads in the Picton area early last evening (Wednesday) and snow plows were pulled off roadways because it was impossible to see during snow squalls that started in the morning and continued for hours. Side roads are impassable. Drifts were up to 5 feet high.
A resident living near the Sandbanks said that much of the time yesterday he was unable to see a pine tree that was just 15 feet from his house and that his snowmobile was snowed in and that the windows on his house were caked with thick snow.
Snow plows should return to action, however travel in the Picton region and places near the lake should be considered impassable until later in the morning at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the forecast calls for flurries and the chance of snow squalls in gusty winds again today (Thursday).
