Belleville Police Service responded to 45 calls for service from January 30, 2019 at 5 a.m. to January 31, 2019 at 5 a.m.
Shoplifter
Shortly after 1 p.m. on January 30, police attended the area of a north end retail store with relation to a shoplifter who had stolen merchandise from the store and fled. Police located the male a short distance away and arrested him. Thirty-year-old Toni Rybicki was taken to The Belleville Police Service and later released on a promise to appear. The Nepean resident was given a March court date to answer to the charge of theft under $5000.
Motor vehicle collisions
Police responded to six motor vehicle collisions during the past 24 hrs. One accident resulted in minor injuries that did not require any medical attention. There were no charges laid in any of the accidents as the majority of them were determined to be as a result of the poor road conditions.
