Nursing contract
Hastings County has settled a four year contract with nursing staff at the two long term care homes.
It gives the members of the Ontario Nurses Association, Local 31, raises over four years, from 2016 when the last contract expired.
It gives the nurses a 1.4% pay hike in 2016, 2017 and 2018, and a 1.75% increase effective April 1 of this year.
County council approved the contract on Thursday.
Hoping for a planning change
Hastings County has decided to ask the provincial government to make a change regarding its Official Plan.
CEO Jim Pine says it would allow the county to grant amendments to its own Official Plan and no longer require ministerial approval.
Council decided on Thursday to write to the government seeking the change.
