The Northumberland detatchment of the OPP is warning residents of Northumberland County that there have been reports of fraudulent text messages in the area.
Fraudsters will send out electronic lures to ‘fish’ for passwords or financial data.
Police say these messages will make it look like you have a problem or suspicious bank account activity, but by clicking on any link you could be providing your personal and or financial information to the fraudster.
While these messages may look very legitimate they are not, so OPP say you should make sure to take a close look at all your messages and check with your bank, a trusted friend or famly member before responding.
