SNOW SQUALL WATCH FOR PICTON AND SANDBANKS AREA ISSUED LATE THURSDAY NIGHT BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA
Snow squalls possible beginning overnight.
Strengthening southwesterly winds and colder temperatures are expected to initiate heavy lake effect flurries over Lake Ontario tonight. These flurries will develop into a heavy snow squall early Friday and this snow squall has the potential to impact the region through Friday and Friday night.
Total snowfall accumulations of up to 15 cm will be possible if the snow squall remains stationary over the area.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common.
Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
