Fire destroyed an older home in Roseneath near Rice Lake yesterday.
The family of four living in the house on Northumberland County Road 24 near County Road 45 escaped safely.
According to Today’s Northumberland, the fire started when the homeowner tried to a thaw a frozen pipe in a washroom.
Damage is estimated at $300,000.
Alnwick/Haldimand, Trent Hills, Hamilton Township, and Cramahe firefighters responded to the scene.
