There will be a special weekend celebrating not only Canada’s game, but the life of a Quinte West OPP officer who passed away last year.
On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Bird Park in the Settler’s Ridge subdivision off Maitland Drive (Hampton Ridge), the grand opening of the Sylvain Routhier Rink is taking place.
Routhier died last year, after taking his life, following a battle with mental health issues.

His wife Sarah, who donated the rink talked to Quinte News about the tribute.
She says with her three children (Jacob 11, Nicholas 9, Emily 6) in hockey, there is no better honour.
