A Toronto man is in custody after assaults, a robbery, and vandalism in Belleville over the past few days.
Belleville police say a 31-year-old man was charged last Thursday after an employee at the Belleville Transit Terminal downtown was punched in the face during an argument over a bus fare. He was found at the VIA rail station an hour later and had to be tasered for an arrest but was released afterward.
On Friday afternoon, city police investigated an attempted purse snatching on Newberry Street. A man threw a woman on the ground, injuring her, but ran away without the purse.
The same 31-year-old Toronto man was charged and kept in custody.
An hour earlier police say they had been in the same area after someone threw a rock at a passing recycling truck shattering a window.
Eric John Cruchka was charged with robbery and aggravated assault for the purse snatching incident.
He was charged with mischief under $5,000 for the rock throwing incident and charged with assault and resist arrest in the bus terminal incident.
He appears for a bail hearing in Belleville Monday.
