A young Frankford man was charged with assaulting a Belleville police officer Wednesday afternoon.
City police attended an east end residence as part of a search for a missing girl.
Inside they found the girl and items suggesting illegal drug use.
Officers believed the young girl was in need of protection and tried to take her away.
As they were doing that a man punched an officer in the face causing a minor injury.
Charged is 19-year-old Mark Woodhead of Frankford. He appears in court later this month.
