As the construction of new hotels in our area would indicate, the tourism business continues to grow in the Quinte region.
In fact, when it comes to the number of hotel stays, the Bay of Quinte area had the fastest growth rate of any area in southeastern Ontario.
The 4.2% growth rate in hotel stays in Belleville and Quinte West is estimated to mean an extra $11 million in spending locally.
According to the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board the growth came from more hotel stays in the off-season which runs from January through April.
The marketing board is continuing efforts to create special events and attract sports tournaments to increase off-season visits even more in future.
