The 2018-19 budget for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board appears to be in good shape.
Despite increases in transportation and teaching costs that were each $900,000 higher than expected, increased revenues, mostly from the provincial government, more than offset the increases.
A staff report for the board’s Operations and Finance Committee shows that at this time an in-year surplus of over 1.6 million dollars is expected, a little higher than earlier projections.
Discussions on next year’s school board budget will begin in the near future.
