Although there wouldn’t be any physical change, it’s being recommended that the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board designate Bayside Secondary School a grade 7 through 12 school instead the current grade 9 through 12.
Currently, Bayside Secondary houses grade 7 and 8 students from Bayside Public School, however board staff believes both students and staff would be better served to have the elementary students served by the same administration as the secondary ones since they’re all in one building.
Right now, Bayside Public School’s administration runs the programming although they are not located in the secondary school.
Meanwhile, it’s also recommended that grade 7 and 8 students from York River Public School be moved into North Hastings High School in Bancroft and also designate it a grade 7 to 12 school.
Both recommendations now go to the Board of Education for final approval.
