Belleville City Council will look over their expenses, benefits, and renumeration at Monday’s meeting.
Before the horseshoe will be the changes by the federal government, which now will start taxing an additional third of a councillor’s pay.
Prior to 2019, only two thirds of a councillor’s/mayor’s pay was taxed, leaving the other third tax free.
About one third was left tax free, covering expenses connected to carrying out duties. The federal government will now tax the entire salary of councillors’/mayors’ pay.
Belleville Council will see a report which will discuss expenses covered by the municipality, such as gas.
Council meets at 4 p.m. at City Hall council chambers.
