Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk led a delegation that got a first hand look at a cannabis company that will be setting up shop in Belleville.
On Thursday, the group travelled to Gatineau Quebec to the growing facility for Hexo Canada, an adult-based cannabis company.
Hexo will be opening a processing facility in the former Sears warehouse in Belleville, starting in April.
Mayor Panciuk says their Gatineau site is state of the art.
Panciuk says he was impressed with the Gatineau facility, and is looking forward to them coming to Belleville.
Hexo will be utilizing 500,000 square feet or about 25 percent of the Sears building, with the possibility of expansion.
They will grow the cannabis in Gatineau, then ship it to Belleville for processing.
