It’s a simple formula really; keeping local people local.
That’s what Lieutenant-Colonel Chris Comeau is hoping to do by recruiting more people to The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment.
He told Prince Edward County’s Committee of the Whole he wants to bring their numbers up to close to 500 members within the next couple of years.
Comeau told council the Hasty Ps could help employ seasonal workers, a concept that brought excitement to those around the horseshoe.
Comeau says council heard about a number of critical social issues affecting their residents and the area and he feels part-time employment with The Hasting and Prince Edward Regiment will help with financial compensation and training that are worth exploring.
He says a great way to keep local people local is by providing a number of transferable skills, most of which he can’t put on a PowerPoint.
