Over $11,000 in funding assistance will be given to 17 farmers in Prince Edward County.
The first round of funding under the Farming Assistance Grant Program was determined by Prince Edward County’s Ad-Hoc Committee and the applicants will be informed this week.
Eligible farmers receive a minimum of $300 up to a maximum of 20% of the annual municipal farm tax bill, whichever is greater.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says agriculture has played an important role in our local economy and they want to encourage future generations to carry on that tradition.
Council will consider renewing the Farming Assistance Grant Program during this year’s budget discussions scheduled for next week.
