The man wanted by Belleville police after not paying a cab driver an almost $500 fare has been arrested.
Belleville police were called to help paramedics after a woman was suspected of overdosing on crystal methamphetamine late last (Tuesday) night at a west end residence.
She was taken to hospital in an ambulance. However, during the investigation police found two people hiding in the residence and one of them was 37-year-old Belleville man Shane McFarland.
A few days earlier he’d taken a taxi from Toronto to Belleville and ran away without paying. He was also wanted for break and enter and breach of recognizance.
McFarland has a February court appearance.
Also arrested last night in the residence was a 29-year-old Belleville woman. She had been wanted for probation violations and obstructing a police officer. She is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
