Social services for the year 2018 cost Hastings County, Belleville, and Quinte West $16.7 million.
The total operating budget, including provincial funding, was $78.8 million.
Director of Community and Human Services Erin Rivers presented an outline of the department’s work to the new members of the committee on Wednesday.
Rivers noted the caseload for Ontario Works was just over 2,508, or 3.29% of the Hastings-Quinte population.
Hastings-Quinte social services department is providing 746 families with services, that’s nearly 1,100 children.
Rivers reported 1,686 households are on the Housing Registry wait list.
That includes 441 families.
