The unemployment rate in our part of the province is on an upward trend.
Statistics Canada reports that the December unemployment rate in the Kingston-Pembroke economic region, which includes the Quinte region, was 5.2% which matched the national rate.
However, in November, the local rate was just 4.6%.
The local unemployment rate was higher than the provincial rate in December, which stood at 4.9%.
Unlike the local rate, both the provincial and federal rates of unemployment have been trending downward.
