The Ottawa Senators have made a trade today which will directly affect the AHL club in Belleville.
Ottawa has sent goaltender Mike McKenna and foward tom Pyatt to Vancouver, in exchange for goaltender Anders Nilsson and forward Darren Archibald.
McKenna had played six games with Belleville this season and another 10 in Ottawa before the deal, while Pyatt had been placed on waivers by the Senators on Tuesday.
28 year-old Nilsson has picked up three wins in 12 games with Vancouver this season, posting a 3.08 goals against average and a .895 save percentage.
He won’t have to wait long at all to face his former club, as he’ll join Ottawa for their home game against the Canucks tonight.
Archibald, who is also 28 and is set to be assigned to Belleville, has a goal and an assist in nine NHL games this season, along with 16 points in 23 games for the Canucks’ AHL affiliate in Utica.
It hasn’t been confirmed if Archibald will be in Belleville’s line up tonight for their visit to Laval on 800 AM CJBQ.
