Affordable housing will be front and centre for the Band Council of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.
As we continue to tee-up the new year, Quinte News chatted with Chief R Don Maracle.
He says the band is hoping to acquire some capital funding for affordable housing in Tyendinaga.
Meantime, the Culbertson Land Tract Claim is almost 24 years old, and the Chief of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte says some headway has been made.
In 1995, the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte were seeking about 900 acres of land in Tyendinaga, a large amount of it in Deseronto.
Other focuses in 2019 include the demolition of the old Band Council administration building and hangar repairs for the old road shed, which will act as headquarters for the MTO reconstruction of the Skyway bridge.
