It’s been a record setting December for the Quinte West Fire Department.
With only a couple of days to go in the month, Quinte West firefighters have dealt with eight structure fires.
Fire Chief John Whalen says the fires have caused over three million dollars damage.
In two separate 24 hour time periods the department had to deal with three fires.
And, there was much more than property damage involved in two of the fires. After one house fire on Bellevue Drive, a woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle.
In a big barn fire on Gallivan Road around 1,200 pigs lost their lives.
Only one of the eight fires was suspicious in nature, that being one at a business plaza on Ontario Street near downtown Trenton.
