Motor Vehicle Collision
Belleville, Ontario – On December 22, 2018, at 12:17 p.m. police attended on Harmony Road at Bronk Road in relation to a two-car accident. One of the vehicles had ended up in the ditch. A 48-year-old Belleville man was charged with ‘failing to yield to traffic’. There were no injuries.
Disturbance
Belleville, Ontario – On December 22, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. police attended at a business on College Street East at Cannifton Road in relation to a disturbance. A window was broken during the skirmish. A 39-year-old Belleville man was arrested for his own protection under the Liquor Licence Act. He was issued a provincial offence notice for being intoxicated in a public place.
Mischief
Belleville, Ontario – On December 22, 2018, at 11:10 p.m. police attended on Cavendish Drive and Kempton Avenue in the city’s north end in relation to eggs being thrown at houses. A traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 4 dozen eggs. Three teenaged males in the car will be returning to a number of residences on December 23 to assist in the cleanup. A car parked at Eastside High School was also targeted. No charges are anticipated in this matter.
Traffic & Bail Violations
Belleville, Ontario – On December 23, 2018, at 2:25 a.m. an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Centre Street at Adam Street. A male passenger bolted from the van. Officers set up containment and the male was located hiding under a Hydro tower. Thirty-seven–year-old Michael Paul Mercer of Belleville was arrested for breaching the curfew condition of his recognizance. He was charged with breaching his recognizance and will appear in court on January 31, 2019.
The driver of the van, a 30-year-old Belleville woman, was charged with numerous traffic offences. The licence plates on the van had been reported stolen two days earlier from a van at the Wellness Centre in Belleville. Her charges include using unauthorized licence plates, driving while under suspension, driving with no insurance, failing to display two licence plates, failing to notify Ministry of change of address and failing to notify Ministry of change of colour of the vehicle. She will appear in Traffic Court on February 4, 2019.
A female passenger who was sleeping on the floor of the van was charged with failing to wear her seatbelt.
