Prince Edward County got a helping hand to keep accessible transportation rolling forward on Tuesday evening.
At their council meeting at Shire Hall, Evelyn Peck along with Wilma de Wolde, Nancy Wood, Judy Tunnell and Kim de Bruin presented a cheque to Mayor Steve Ferguson on behalf of the Prince Edward District Women’s Institute for accessible transportation.
Mayor Ferguson says in 1989 the Women’s Institute realized the County lacked accessible transportation and decided to do something about it.
The cheque was worth $5,000 and according to Mayor Ferguson, since 2008 the Women’s Institute has contributed $115,000 to the County for accessible transportation.
He says they are very grateful for the work the group has done for the County.
