A young single mother who pleaded guilty to impaired driving causing bodily harm after six people were injured in a collision in west end Belleville in 2017 will spend over a year in jail.
Jessica McBride-Bowers, now 21, was sentenced to 15 months in custody, 18 months probation, and was handed a three year driving prohibition.
The Belleville native ran a stop sign at Moira Street West and Yeomans Street hitting another vehicle.
One of the vehicles caused minor damage to a nearby house.
Six people were hurt with two suffering major injuries.
While McBride-Bowers expressed sincere remorse for her actions and received several positive references to her character Justice Brian Abrams said impaired driving was a serious crime and that a sentence had to focus on denunciation and deterrence.
