The 401 eastbound in this part of the world wasn’t a good place to be last (Sunday) night.
A tractor trailer crossed the median from the westbound lanes over into the eastbound lanes near Brighton around 9 o’clock.
The transport hit a pickup truck in the eastbound lanes. Four people in the pickup suffered minor injuries.
The 401 eastbound at Brighton was closed until around midnight. The transport’s driver was charged with careless driving.
Meanwhile, an hour later, a tractor trailer carrying peanut butter on the 401 eastbound ended up in the median and caught fire near Palace Road in Napanee.
Once again, the 401 eastbound was shutdown for about three hours. As of 3 o’clock Monday morning, only one lane was open to traffic at Napanee.
Napanee OPP say one man is facing charges following the collision.
The driver from Mississauga was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was extricated from the cab of the truck.
The man is facing a careless driving charge.
All lanes of the highway are now open.
