Video, an accurate description, and good police work led to the arrest of a shoplifter Tuesday night in Belleville.
Shortly before 9 o’clock a woman tried to leave a Bell Boulevard business with a large amount of merchandise.
Store staff stopped her and got most of it back but she ended up leaving and driving away in a vehicle.
Belleville police received a description from staff and looked at security video.
Later at around 10:30 an officer spotted a woman matching the description walking on North Front Street.
Melissa Allin, 40, of Belleville was charged with theft under $5,000.
She appears in court in January.
