Napanee OPP were busy on the 401 this weekend with stunt drivers.
The detachment reports they seized nine vehicles over the weekend after drivers were caught driving over 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.
In each instance the drivers were issued seven-day driver’s licence suspensions and their vehicles were seized for seven days. They also received summons to appear in court in Napanee at a later date.
Speeds ranged from 155 km/h t- 163 km/h.
One of the drivers, a 19-year-old male from Whitby, was stopped for travelling at 155 km/h. He was also charged for having open liquor readily available, cannabis readily available, and for being a young driver and having a blood alcohol count above zero.
In a separate case, a 20-year-old driver from Quebec was charged with speeding at 148 km/h on Hwy 401. He was also charged with being a young driver and having a blood alcohol count above zero and issued a three day driver’s licence suspension after registering a “warn” on a roadside alcohol screening test.
