How time flies! Quinte Health Care turned 20 years old earlier this week.
On November 26 of 1998, four separate hospitals, Belleville General, Trenton Memorial, Prince Edward County Memorial and North Hastings Hospital, were merged into one organization.
Chair of the QHC Board of Directors Stuart Wright says the amalgamation caused fear and loathing in many people in the early days but that in his opinion there’s no question that healthcare has vastly improved while becoming more efficient under one organization.
QHC’s President Mary Clare Egberts says each of the four hospitals has its own specialties and patients can much more easily access special care than they used to when each hospital operated independently.
