Provincial Police are kicking off the 2018 Festive RIDE Campaign with a reminder that, it’s as much about catching drivers who are impaired by drugs, as those who are impaired by alcohol.
OPP say they’ve laid more than 6,700 impaired driving charges across the province, with 283 of those being drug impaired charges.
Thirty-nine people have also been killed on OPP-patrolled roadways this year.
Drivers are reminded to, of course, make alternate transportation arrangements if they plan to drink. Also, if you are transporting marijuana, it follows pretty much the same rules as alcohol.
It must be in its original, or closed packaging and must not be accessible to anyone in the vehicle.
Drivers who are under 22 cannot have any drugs or alcohol in their system.
