The Executive Director of the Community Development Council of Quinte sees some positives in the federal fall fiscal update delivered by the Finance Minister yesterday (Wednesday).
Ruth Ingersoll heads up the non-profit agency that provides assistance and programs for the less well off in the region and likes the new “social finance fund” being created by the government.
The fund will invest $755 million over a 10 year period to help non-profits and charities develop new programs.
Ingersoll also praises the support for journalism and news organizations but believes the best part of the fiscal update was providing $13 million more for Nutrition North, a program which subsidizes the sky-high price of food for people in the country’s far north.
