There was a shooting at Kingston General Hospital on Monday evening.
Kingston Police say a federal offender who was being treated at the hospital disarmed a correctional officer who was guarding him and fired off two shots, around 6 p.m., hitting a civilian.
Corrections staff and hospital security restrained the offender and called police, who arrested him and took him to police headquarters.
Authorities say the person who was injured suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and that the hospital has resumed regular operations.
More information is expected to be released by Kingston Police and Correctional Services Canada on Tuesday.
