Life can get hectic and the Belleville Police are hoping to remind people to do the simple things.
With the holiday season rapidly approaching the Belleville Police are launching their lock it or lose it campaign.
The campaign encourages people to take precautions and protect their vehicles and contents from theft.
Staff Sergeant Rene Aubertin says it happens year-round but there is more of an emphasis made this time of year.
This year the Belleville Police Service has partnered with Loyalist College Police Foundations program to assist in administering the campaign.
This is in addition to Patrol Officers, Auxiliary Officers, and Community Policing Volunteers who will examine parked vehicles to confirm they are locked and that no valuables have been left in plain view.
A small notice will be placed on the vehicles checked.
This successful crime prevention program focuses on reducing vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles.
These partnerships strengthen their commitment to being “Partners with the Community” in our continued efforts to make Belleville the Safest Community in Ontario.
