It would seem the Belleville Police Service has much to be proud of.
Chief of Police Ron Gignac says in the past two years he and the Executive Command Team have made 236 commendations in connection with police related efforts.
A report, to be seen by the Police Services Board Tuesday morning, also says that in the past couple of years the Belleville Police Service had the highest number of officers nominated for citizen hero awards in Ontario.
In fact, seven officers were awarded the Bar of Courage for extraordinary bravery in the face of grave danger.
Belleville police also had the highest ratio per capita of officers receiving the Ontario Police Fitness award.
At Tuesday’s Police Board meeting Chief Gignac will ask that board chair Mayor Taso Christopher and Acting Sergeant
Barry Lannin also receive recognition.
