On Monday, Hospice Quinte paid special recognition to a volunteer who has been a member for more than 20 years.
Marie Savage has supported the organization as a donor, board member, fundraiser, event volunteer, and palliative-care volunteer.
Hospice Quinte offers services in the person’s own home, long term care homes, retirement homes and both Belleville General and Trenton Memorial Hospitals.
Earlier this month, Hospice Quinte recognized seven other dedicated volunteers for providing more than 70 combined years of service.
The other volunteers who were recognized were Sue Down, Lois Hider, Robert Howell (5 years of service), Marylou Valcamp (10 years of service), Rilla Murray (retiring after 13 years of service), Annie Vandermeulen (retiring after 15 years of service), and Rita Shettell (retiring after more than 20 years of service).
Executive Director Jennifer May-Anderson says, “Right now we have more than 130 volunteers with Hospice Quinte who provide tens of thousands of hours of service to our communities. The human value of the work our volunteers do is something that can’t be measured or counted. The support they give to families and our entire organization is priceless.”
The Hospice Quinte service area includes Quinte West, Belleville, Deseronto, Tyendinaga Township and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
