The province’s minister of economic development has told the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce that steps are being made to improve the business climate in Ontario.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith spoke at the chamber luncheon Friday about the importance of cutting red tape and regulations, to make life easier for business owners.
Smith says there needs to be a change in the attitude towards business in the province and show that the government is not an adversary of small businesses.
He adds that as part of the process, the government wants to hear from business owners about areas that need improvement.
Smith says one of the keys is for the province not to double up on regulations that are already overseen by the feds, municipal governments and environmental authorities and that there needs to be more cooperation between the government and businesses, when it comes to certain regulations, to encourage economic growth in the province.
