The head of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce is reacting to Thursday’s fiscal update from the provincnial government.
Finance Minister Vic Fedeli says the deficit will be $14.5 billion, which a reduction of $500 million and that the government has cut $3.2 billion in program expenses.
Chamber Manager Suzanne Andrews says there are a number of points in the update that the chamber agrees with especially around the deficit and debt reduction efforts.
She adds one area where local businesses are still hoping to see some headway, is in the complicated issue of reducing hydro costs.
Andrews says the chamber would like the government to look at updating some of the models of privatization of some services as well.
