Officers from the Quinte West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to fourteen collisions with no injuries reported overnight in the city of Quinte West.
Fifty percent of the crashes occurred on in-town streets while the rest were on rural roads.
Officers from the Quinte West Detachment OPP have been focusing their attention and efforts on increasing police visibility along Highway 14 between Stirling and Wallbridge Loyalist Road in the city of Quinte West in an attempt to reduce collisions.
Analytical data shows that collisions are likely to occur in this area mostly due to poor weather conditions that arrives this time of the year.
Quinte West OPP have not received a report of a collision on Hwy 14 from Stirling to Walbridge since the commencement of the focus patrol on November 1, 2018 including last night’s storm that played a factor in fourteen crashes throughout the city.
OPP are reminding drivers to reduce speeds and maintain vehicles for poor winter road conditions. Proper tires, clearing snow and ice off vehicles and allowing more time for travel will decrease your chances of being involved in a collision.
