Hastings County Emergency Service Chief Doug Socha showed off the service’s new drone, following the Emergency Services Committee meeting this week.
Chief Doug Socha says the drone was deployed recently in an experiment.
Socha told the committee the drone is fully operational, with a licence through the Ministry of Transport, and was used recently at a Quinte area house fire.
He said it allowed firefighters to see the fire situation on the roof of the house.
The drone is part of a federal research project and will be kept with the ambulance service once the project is completed.
