Brighton’s fire chief says the town is prepared in the case of a significant emergency situation after completing a major training exercise yesterday.
More than 25 municipal and corporate stakeholders took part in the 2018 Emergency Management Exercise, which was a table top discussion, simulating a large incident in the Brighton Industrial Park.
Key members of the OPP, EMS, fire, Health Unit and Northumberland County officials were all involved.
Fire Chief Rick Caddick called the exercise a success and says it teaches important lessons on how to react and respond to a critical incident in the municipality.
He adds that the town will be testing its public notification system on November 30 at 2 p.m. and residents who aren’t signed up should visit the municipal website or call Brighton Fire and Rescue at 613-475-1174.
Next year’s emergency management event will be done live and in full scale and will take place in Brighton in the fall.
