During the morning on November 1, 2018, officers of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a mischief complaint on Monck Street in the Town of Bancroft.
Officers attended the location and spoke with the owner of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) who observed damage on the ATV, parts removed and the ignition tampered with.
Sometime through the previous evening, unknown suspects attempted to steal the ATV from the property but were unable to do so.
The Bancroft Detachment of the OPP wish to remind everyone about their duty to protect themselves from theft and being victim of property crimes.
Please remember to lock it or lose it. Cover larger items such as ATVs to keep them out of the eyes of criminals. Make sure you lock larger items to fixed objects, and/or store them in a shed or outbuilding with secured doors and windows.
When it comes to your vehicles, always remember to leave your windows up, doors locked and valuables in the trunk, or covered up and out of sight.
Together we can assist and help each other with thefts, break and enters and mischiefs.
