Several cottages were destroyed after a fire Friday morning on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Around 5:30 am, emergency crews were called to 180 Snookie’s Road, west off York Road, and south of Old Highway 2, along the Salmon River, near the entrance to the Bay of Quinte.
Mohawk Fire Chief Scott Maracle tells Quinte News, when they arrived at the campground, three cottages were on fire, two were completely destroyed.
Maracle says only one person was in the campground, as most people had already closed up for the winter.
The cause is not known at this time, and no damage estimate has been released.
Mohawk Fire, Tyendinaga Township, and Belleville Fire all responded to the call.
