Belleville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service from October 30, 2018 at 5 a.m. to October 31, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Domestic assault
On October 30, police laid charges on a 24-year-old Cobourg male in relation to a domestic assault. The charges stemmed from an incident on October 29 shortly after 4 p.m. when a call came in with regards to an erratic driver on highway 37 where the car pulled over and a female passenger got out onto the shoulder of the road and was picked up by another motorist. Investigation led to the male turning himself in on October 30. He was released on a promise to appear with charges of domestic assault, dangerous driving and breach of probation. He was given a November court date to answer to the charges. Names are being withheld to protect the identity of the victim. No injuries were sustained as a result of the assault.
Criminal harassment
On October 30 at 7:45 p.m. police responded to an east end apartment building with regards to a call of harassment. Investigation led to the arrest of another tenant on charges of criminal harassment and breaching his undertaking with relation to contacting the victim. The 60-year-old Belleville resident is being held for a show cause hearing on October 31.
Breach of the peace
On October 30, shortly after 11 p.m. police responded to a disturbance call at an apartment in the city’s core. Police arrested a 45-year-old Belleville resident for breach of the peace and the male was held in custody until morning when he was released unconditionally. There were no injuries sustained as a result of the disturbance.
